Why Pathways?

The phrase; “the times they are a changing”, continues to be relevant.  Gone are the days when ‘experts” design programs for the people we serve, and gone are the days of trying to fit people into those programs.  We have arrived at listening to our participants and helping them create their own vision of their future. 

Skils’kin is in a unique position to implement this new design.  What we already have in place is exactly what we need to get to the future: We just need to reconnect our existing services and redesign how we provide those services.  To that end we are introducing Pathways.

A person moving through Pathways will be completely involved with employment choices. Nevertheless the end result will always be movement towards community inclusive employment.  There will not be a “typical’ journey.  A person may experience work in a group setting, work in our workshop, with added experience as a volunteer, before moving into our Individual Supported Employment service.  Others may move very quickly directly into community inclusive employment.  Each path is their own.  Every outcome determined by individual strengths.

	Payee Services Manage participant's cash benefits to provide for basic needs.

	Grounds Maintenance Full service grounds maintenance.
	Custodial Full service custodial.
