Group Supported Employment

GSE provides supervised employment activities for groups of no more than eight workers with disabilities. The workers are individuals who have a need for ongoing supervision and support in order to maintain employment. A group usually performs the work of one full-time employee. Group employees are supervised and trained by SKILS’KIN staff.

Typical GSE jobs include janitorial, warehouse, stocking, assembly, packaging and customer service.

Pre-Vocational Services/Specialized Industries

Pre-vocational Services/Specialized Industries provide training and skill development to groups of people with disabilities in the same setting. Services provided include, assessment, skill enhancement, job readiness, job coaching, and job modifications.

Individuals in this program often learn skills in manufacturing, packaging, grounds maintenance and litter control.

Person-to-Person (P2P)

This program assists people with disabilities and their families identify the supports they would find most helpful. Person to Person helps them find supports that are available to all citizens within their communities. These services are part of an individual’s pathway to community employment.

Services that we provide include person-centered planning, assistive technology, volunteer experience, job exploration and job preparation.

Community Access

Community Access services are for people with developmental disabilities ages 62 and older who have retired or who choose not to work and need assistance to access services and activities in the community. These services are meant to enhance or maintain the person’s competence, integration, and physical and mental skills.

Individuals in this program participate in activities such as bowling, movies, park outings and walking. They are also active in community volunteerism and help with local events such as Bloomsday and Hoopfest, as well as volunteering their services at the Humane Society, retirement facilities and food banks.
